Partnering with the LA84 Foundation and Think Together to bring equitable recreation to our elementary schools and build brighter futures for Lynwood’s youth.
Regular physical activity has been shown to improve cognitive function, memory, and focus, all of which would support better academic outcomes. The soccer program would provide students with an outlet to refresh their minds, leading to better engagement and performance in their studies.
With poverty-related stressors and limited access to recreational activities, many Lynwood students face barriers to maintaining their physical and mental health. This program encourages regular exercise, which can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while promoting healthy habits that contribute to long-term well-being.
Soccer would serve as a platform for teaching invaluable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, discipline, and resilience.
Organized sports would foster a sense of belonging and unity. The soccer program could strengthen ties between schools, families, and local organizations, creating a supportive network that benefits students both on and off the field.
Sports have the potential to open doors to scholarships, mentorships, and career networks. The soccer program would offer students structured opportunities to showcase their talents and connect with resources that could lead to higher education or professional paths.
Equity would remain at the heart of the program. By ensuring access to all students regardless of socioeconomic background, the initiative would remove barriers and provide every child with the chance to play, grow, and succeed in an inclusive environment.
